8/19: Popsicles on the Playground

The PTA is hosting Popsicles on the Playground so kids and parents have a chance to meet each other before the first day of school. Some SJLES staff members will also attend.

• Kindergarten: Playdate starts at 3:30 PM
• 1st-5th Grade: Playdate starts at 4:15 PM

9/4: PTA Kickoff Meeting in the Media Center @ 6:30 PM

Our first PTA meeting of the year will be held IN-PERSON on Thursday 9/4 @ 6:30 PM in the school’s Media Center! Pop in to meet this year’s Board and see what we have in store for this year! If you’ve never attended a PTA meeting before, this is a great way to get a look inside what’s going on at SJLES and connect with other parents. Hope to see you there!

PTA Membership

Welcome to the new school year (almost)! Every other week, you will receive an email from the PTA with updates on how you and your Jaguars can get involved at SJLES this year.

The PTA is a nonprofit organization run by parent volunteers. Our goal is to support SJLES teachers and staff, provide fun and enriching experiences for the kids, and foster a sense of community among parents.

By becoming a member of the PTA, you are contributing to enhance the school experience for all students. There is never any obligation to volunteer! For a little house cleaning, we’d like to ask all new and returning volunteers to update their information by filling out this form HERE.

The PTA plays a vital role in supporting school-wide essentials. We invite you to visit our online membership site to make your tax-deductible donation. All membership dues and donations are directly allocated to funding assemblies, family fun events, teacher appreciation activities, and fulfilling various supply requests made by teachers, among other initiatives. Without the PTA, these important events would not be possible.

The PTA is excited to offer discounted tickets to Hershey Park again this year! Now through April 11, you can purchase tickets to Hershey Park for just $46 each! Order forms will be sent home with students, you can download the form here, or you can order online at the online PTA store.

Tickets are now on sale for SJLES Bingo Night, April 4 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.! This picnic-style event will be held indoors in the SJLES Gym.

Tickets are $5 each, and include cards for 10 Bingo games, a snack, and a bottle of water. You also have the option to pre-order pizzas and salads from Vocelli’s. Flyers are being sent home this week, and you can purchase tickets via our online PTA store. Registration closes March 21.

All SJLES families are invited for an evening of surprise guest readers, arts & crafts, library tours and more. You might even catch a glimpse of Harry Spotter.

Book Fair–Coming Soon!

If you’ve been wanting to see how happy your Jaguar is during the school day, volunteering at the Book Fair is the perfect opportunity! Sign up to help students find and purchase their books during their media class the week of March 17. 

Special evening hours for family shopping will be on Friday, March 21, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Families can also shop online from March 14-March 27. Be on the lookout for information coming home with your student about the fair and how to purchase books in the coming weeks.

But it’s not too early to consider donating to the Book Fairy dust fund, which allows us to ensure that every child can get a book this year. Help sprinkle the love of reading and books today!

And remind your students to make a poster and earn a charm! This year’s theme is “An Enchanted Book Fair–Let Your Imagination Soar!” Poster paper and directions are available outside Mrs. Peddicord’s art room. Completed posters are due back to Mrs. Peddicord’s art cart by Friday, March 14. They will be displayed around school during the week of the Book Fair.

If you have any great pictures of SJLES events that you’d like to possibly be included in the newsletter, you can share them here. We desperately need pictures of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders! If we do not receive additional pictures, those grades will not have pictures in this year’s yearbook!.

Please keep these recommended guidelines in mind:

1. Carefully review images and submit only the very best ones. Photos should follow school guidelines, not infringe on any copyrights, and so on.
2. Apply images tags when uploading images (BTS Picnic, Trunk or Treat, Turkey Trot, etc.)
3. Uploading photos does not guarantee they will be used in the yearbook. It’s up to the Yearbook Adviser and Staff to review and approve photos that are used.
