Our final Spiritwear Sale of the year is underway! Show your school pride with cotton tees, activewear tees, and hoodies, ranging from $15-$30! See the flyer posted on our website for pricing details or visit the online store. Orders are due by Monday, March 13. All items will be delivered to the school within three weeks after the sale closes. Please note, items are custom, so there are no refunds, returns, or exchanges.
Great News! Our “BOLDER, PROUDER, STRONGER READERS!” Scholastic Book Fair is on its way to SJLES Media Center and will be open for students during their media classes from March 17-23. Special Evening Hours for Family Shopping will take place on Thursday, March 23, from 3:35-7:30 PM. Families may also choose to shop online from March 20 – April 2. Proceeds from this fundraiser help support the SJLES PTA’s mission and programs.

Make a Poster for our “BOLDER, PROUDER, STRONGER READERS!” Scholastic Book Fair and earn a Charm! Students can get posters and directions from outside Mrs. Peddicord’s art room. Posters are due back to Mrs. Peddicord by Friday, March 10. All posters will be displayed around the school the week before the Book Fair.

The annual HCPSS Educator Recognition Program sponsored by the Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee (GTAC) celebrates educators who demonstrate exemplary commitment to the needs of advanced-level learners and/or the Howard County G/T Education Program. Families and students have the opportunity to recognize a G/T Resource Teacher, content or classroom teacher, or administrator who has enriched the educational experience of advanced-level learners. Every teacher/administrator who receives a nomination will be recognized. Parents are invited to use the nomination form available here. Submissions are due Friday, March 3.
This Thursday, 2/16, our Multicultural Night will celebrate the unique beauty in our Jaguar families, cultivate empathy and acceptance, and create shared experiences that join our families together. From 6:00 to 8:00 PM, there will be cuisine tasting in the cafeteria, plus table displays and a schedule of unique performances that you can enjoy in the gym. We hope you will join us!
Monday, February 6, is Restaurant Night at All-American Steakhouse! When you dine-in or take-out between 4:00 and 9:00 PM, 10% of the proceeds will be donated to the PTA. Just mention “SJLES PTA” when you check out. All-American Steakhouse is located in the Normandy Shopping Center at 8450 Baltimore National Pike. Thank you for your support!

Our Read-a-thon event has come to a close, and we are so grateful for your participation and support! This celebration of reading has raised more than $20,000! Now it’s time to shop for your prizes! In your Read-a-thon account’s online dashboard, under the tab for Prizes, you can see how much credit your Jaguar has to spend in the prize store. Art supplies, decoder pens, animal erasers, books, fidgets, binoculars…there are so many fun choices! Be sure to make your prize selections by Tuesday, February 7. All unused credit will be lost, so don’t wait! Prizes will be distributed in your child’s homeroom. Thank you to everyone who participated–your support for SJLES means so much!
The PTA Staff Appreciation Committee will be providing lunch for the SJLES staff on Thursday, February 9, before parent teacher conferences. We are seeking donations of some items for this luncheon.
